Thinking of You Series

Every week or two I send a card to someone not because it is their birthday or some other special occasion …… just because.

I figure it’s nice to get a card for no other reason than to say “you’re being thought of today”.

This month I made a series of cards using the sentiment and rose stamp set as the jumping off point.  Starting with the card on the top left and going clockwise, here’s the info about these because I thought of you cards.

Twin Roses  I stamped the sentiment on a narrow piece of cardstock and attached it to a light pink card.  The roses were stamped twice on acetate and twice on patterned pink paper.  I coloured the acetate roses with two different red-coloured alcohol inks.  All of the roses were cut out and the acetate roses were attached to the patterned paper roses.  “You” was die cut from yellow paper twice, glued together, and then glued to the card.  I added a twist of green ribbon with a brad to the card and attached the roses with foam tape.  I used touches of glitter to highlight the roses.

Rose Bud  The rose bud was stamped on a blue card and it was also stamped on a peachy patterned paper.  I cut out the peachy rose and attached it to the card with foam tape.  A piece of wavy-patterned paper was attached to the card.  The sentiment was stamped on another piece of the patterned paper and layered on the card.  I then die cut “You” from blue paper twice, glued them together, and attached the word to the card.  The stem of the rose was coloured with a green marker and a twist of ribbon was attached to the card.  The rose was highlighted with glitter.

Two Leaves  I stamped the sentiment on a strip of patterned paper and attached it to a white card.   Then “You” was die cut from white cardstock twice, glued together, and attached to the card.  The rose was stamped twice, once on acetate and once on pink patterned paper.  I then coloured the acetate rose with two different red=coloured alcohol inks.  Both roses were cut out and the acetate rose was attached to the patterned paper rose.  I inked the leaf with two shades of green ink and stamped it twice – once directly on the card and once on a scrap of white paper, which was cut out and attached the card.  The rose was attached to the card with foam tape.  Glitter glue was used to highlight the centre of the rose.

A Watercolour Just For You

Watercolour Flower Just for YouBe Square … this Monday’s challenge from #simonsaysstamp.

The solid part of the flower stamp was coloured with watercolour markers and stamped on watercolor paper (to ensure the ink was still wet, the huffing technique (breathing onto the stamp before stamping) was used).

The outline part of the flower was then stamped over top of the solid stamped image.

The watercolour paper was trimmed and attached to a black card.  A few yellow brads were attached to the centre of the flower to help hold the panel to the card.

The sentiment was stamped on cardstock, layered to another square piece of cardstock, and then attached to the card.

The centre of the flower was highlighted with Liquid Pearls and glitter glue was added to the leaf.

Floral Background For You

Floral BackgroundBe Square, this Monday’s challenge from #simonsaysstamp, led to this creation…

The floral background stamp was coloured with watercolour markers and stamped on glossy white cardstock (to ensure the ink was still wet, the huffing technique (breathing onto the stamp before stamping) was used).   The stamped cardstock was trimmed and matted with green cardstock and then attached to a white card.

A length of twisted ribbon was attached to the top of the card with brads.

A square was punched from the stamped cardstock and matted with green cardstock.  The sentiment was stamped on the punched square and attached to the card with foam tape.

The floral background was highlighted with glitter glue.

Rosy For You

rosy-for-youA recently purchased patterned paper by Carta Bella and Simon Says Stamps’ Wednesday Challenge – New Something – were the jumping off point for this Rosy for You card.

A piece of the patterned paper was attached to a red card.

The for part of the sentiment was stamped on two strips of red paper which were layered and then attached to the card.

You was die cut twice from patterned green paper.  The die-cuts were layered and attached to the card.

rosyforyou2The roses and leaves were stamped on acetate and then on pattered paper.  The acetate roses and leaves were coloured with alcohol inks, cut out, and attached to the patterned paper roses and leaves that were also cut out.  The roses and leaves were attached to the card with foam tape, overlapping slightly.  The roses and leaves were highlighted with glitter glue and crystal drops.

Ring Around the Tree

ring-around-the-tree Inspired by #simonsaysstamp’s Wednesday challenge from last week and the recent Monday challenge, I paid homage to the Christmas Tree with the whimsical  Raindrop Tree from Impress Rubber Stamps.

The tree was stamped on acetate and a green patterned paper.  The acetate tree was coloured with alcohol inks.  Both trees were cut out and attached together with double-sided tape.  Using the Circle Loop die four loops were cut out using two different patterned papers.  The two loops of the same paper were attached together in a few spots, allowing some separation.   The loops were layered with a strip of patterned paper and attached to the card.

ring-around-the-tree-3The sentiment was stamped on vellum and attached to the card.  The tree was attached to the card with foam tape and highlighted with glitter glue.  A few sequins were added to the completed card.

A Partridge, a Pear, and a Tree

trio-of-sweatersSimon Says Stamp’s Ugly Sweater set is so fun and has so many possibilities — though, I think any creation made with it wouldn’t be ugly at all!!

I used three different patterned papers for the sweaters and coordinating papers for the trim — all were stamped, cut out, and glued.

trio-of-sweaters-5Behind the three sweaters I used Concord and 9th’s Tree Ring Background stamp and a strip of flowered paper.  I stamped the sentiment on acetate and then layered these on a gray card.   The tree ring was coloured with gelatos.

Each sweater was embellished with a different item — a wooden bird coloured yellow with alcohol ink markers, a pear sticker attached with foam tape and highlighted with liquid pearls, and a wooden tree coloured and also highlighted with liquid pearls. trio-of-sweaters-3 The flowered and striped sweaters were attached directly to the card and the “pear sweater” was attached with foam tape.  A few silver sequins were attached to the card.

trio-of-sweaters-4The piece of tree ring that was cut away for the placement on the front was attached to the back of the card.
